Diploma in Psychological Counselling

Course Description

Psychological Counselling covers a range of theoretical, analytical, conceptual, and functional skills related to mental health. This diploma programme develops a professional approach toward the emotional, psychological, and behavioural complexities of family members, friends, co-workers, and students. Specialized knowledge in: Maximizing work/study performances for effectiveness, success, and well-being Enhancing the emotional, psychological, and social well-being of the learner Ability to observe, and understand people and contemporary life situations Application of counselling skills to resolve human complexities Crisis intervention, disaster, and trauma management Developing interpersonal relationships at family, school, and workplace Assessment techniques for the diagnosis of psychological disorders. The Diploma in Psychological Counselling is designed according to the National Competency Standards (NCS) and National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) Framework of Sri Lanka (NVQ Level 05).
